It all begins with a call to Generative Land to talk about what is on your mind. There is a lot we can share over an phone call.
This first meeting can take on several directions depending on what is on your mind. The three biggest ones are:
- What do you want to do and what area are you looking to improve first?
- Have you identified a working budget?
- What is your timeline?
Included in that are may other questions such as:
- How do you want to use the space, or your desired programming, is often highest on the priority list for discussion. Do you want a large seating area or a cozy nook? Do you want a hybrid space that can be used for sports sometimes, and parking other times?
- What new features or items are you are thinking of including in the design? A sitting area?... Add an outdoor kitchen?... A fire table? ... A pergola for some shade?... A dog run?... Or maybe reclaim some space by taking out row of overgrown shrubs and put in a perennial garden?
- Materials, are also often a topic of conversation. Natural stone versus man made materials? What is 'easiest' to maintain, or lasts the longest? Are you looking for premium materials or standard materials?
- What about the budget? Are you interested in talking about fees and setting up a project budget? Budget will play a big part in what you chose to do when.
- Project Schedule is always a hot topic. This includes how long it will take to move through the design process, and how long it will take to be built?
- How many phases would you like to break your project into?
- Do you have several areas and are looking at taking on one area? We can talk about that approach. Or perhaps, you have a large area and want to make sure you have a holistic plan for the whole site before you build out one area. If so, a Concept Plan would be a recommendation for next step in the overall design process.
- When do you want it finished?
- Do you have a party or event lined up? Hoping to have the yard done before that? Working back from that time line will help to sent the scope of work and identify what can get done within your timeframe. As we all know, ordering items takes times, and along with that some plants are only available at certain times of the year. Starting the conversion up from helps you to have it finished on your timeline.
